Picture demonstration of short stick grid killing technique

Mechanical combat was the most important form of combat in the ancient Cold Weapon Age. Whether it was a slave duel in a slave society, an ancient military war, or a martial arts or underworld battle, 99% of it was mechanical combat, with few relying solely on unarmed combat. No matter how dangerous a unarmed fight may be, it is never as dangerous as a tenth of an armed fight. The short stick grid killing technique introduced below is one of the most representative and practical weapons in cold weapon combat. It can be used for complete short stick routine exercises or single style combat exercises.

Advantages of short sticks:

1、 Easy to use local materials anytime and anywhere.

2、 The short stick is not considered a lethal weapon, it is unmanned and easy to carry.

3、 The short stick movement is simple and direct, with concealed attacks. It is easy to learn and quick to succeed. After learning for 10 days, one can defeat a 1-3 year old unarmed martial arts master.

The essence of armed combat is to “seize the arm and make trouble, kill the body and stand still, move together and approach, and attack in a loop”. Short stick combat requires little skill in the application of technology. The boxing proverb says, “Fist is afraid of young men, while stick is afraid of old wolves. It refers to short stick combat, which cannot compete with strength, but should focus on technical strategy and balance strength with softness.

Specification of short stick:

A solid wooden stick with a length of 80-100 centimeters and a diameter of 2-3.5 centimeters, or a stick with a length of 30-35 centimeters and a diameter of 2-3.5 centimeters, or a suitable steel pipe for practice.

1、 Qishi (holding a stick and paying a salute)

1. Set your feet together in a straight position, with your left hand on top and your right hand on the bottom holding the stick. Keep your short stick upright and your upper body centered (Figure 1).

2. Step back with your left foot, hold the stick in your right hand, and protect with your left hand, forming a short stick combat position where your right foot is in front of you (Figure 2).

2. Split the stick

Step forward with your right foot, and quickly slash the stick from top to bottom in the straight line towards the tip of your nose, reaching the front of the short stick with the force straight to the front of the short stick, while the center of gravity of your body sinks downward, and your left hand remains protective (Figure 3) (Figure 4 is an example of a positive splitting stick attack).

Third, the anti-prodding stick

The right foot slides forward a small step, the left foot follows a small step, the right hand holds the stick from the bottom up and then down in a circle, the right hand is facing down, the palm is facing outward, and the force reaches the front of the short stick, high and level with oneself, and the left hand is still protected (Figure 5) (Figure 6 is an example of an anti-stick attack).

4. Left and right diagonal splitting sticks

Slide both feet forward a small step, lift your body up, and at the same time split the stick from the top right to the left (Figure 7), then the right hand to the top left and then the right down (Figure 8), reaching the front of the stick with the force, while the left hand still remains protective (Figure 9 is an example of a right-oblique splitting stick).

Note: The left and right oblique splitting stick movements should be consistent and smooth, and the sticks should be crossed and obliquely split into an inverted “8” shape.

5. Lock and carry the stick

Hold the stick in both hands and lift it up, then hold the stick down with both hands, pull hard, and at the same time jerk up with the left knee (Figure 10), then kick forward with the left foot hard, and hold the stick in both hands to maintain protection (Figure 11, Figure 12~13 is an example of a lock and stick attack).

7. Step up and swing the stick, turn around and sweep the stick

1. Step forward with the left foot, while holding the stick from bottom to top with the right hand, force straight to the front of the stick, exhale, put the left hand on the right wrist, and the stick is high and level with the head (Figure 20).

2. Keep moving up, the body rotates backwards into a seat, and at the same time the right hand sweeps the stick from top to right to left, and the force reaches the front of the stick, high and ankle level (Figure 21).

Note: These two actions should be consistent, the upper swing stick can be false, turn the counter-sweeper stick to grasp the center of gravity of your body, rotate the force (Figure 22~23 is an example of the up-step stick, turn around and attack the counter-sweeper stick).

8. Grab the stick

Keep moving up, step forward with your left foot, and sweep the stick from the bottom right to the left in your right hand, reaching the front of the stick with a force, exhaling forcefully, and your eyes level ahead (Figure 24).

9. Poke, pick, and split the stick

1. The upper right foot becomes a right lunge, while holding the stick in the right hand, poke forward with the top end of the short stick, exhale forcefully, high and level with the heart, and keep the left hand protective (Figure 25).

2. Keep moving up, slide your feet forward a small step, and at the same time hold the stick in your right hand to provoke from the bottom up, reaching the front end of the short stick (Figure 26).

3. Keep moving up, the right hand holds the stick and slashes from top to bottom, high and head level, force up to the front end of the short stick, exhale force, and the left hand still remains protective (Figure 27).

Note: Poke, pick, split link stick practice should be done in one go, not glued (Figure 28~30 is an example of poke, pick, split link stick attack).

10. Regression and smashing sticks

Taking a step back with the right foot becomes a left lunge, while the right-handed stick is smashed from top to bottom, reaching the end of the short stick, knee-level, with the left hand protected and the eyes level ahead (Figure 31).

Note: When smashing the stick, the center of gravity of the body should sink down to achieve the unity of the body and the stick (Figure 32 is an example of smashing the stick).

11. Lock and stick to carry the stick

Stand up straight with your legs straight, lift your body’s center of gravity, grab both ends of the stick with your left and right hands, and then press down with both hands, and at the same time raise your right knee and jerk upwards (Figure 33), the stick pressure and knee impact form a combined force, thus achieving a one-hit kill.

XII. Sidewalk sticks

Step backwards with the right foot to the left, the left foot backwards to the right, and the body rotates 180 degrees to the left and back, while the right hand holds the stick from the bottom up, resting on the top of the head, the eyes are looking to the left, and the left hand is protected in the right armpit (Figure 34).

XIII. Regression and counter-beating

1. Take a small step back with your right foot while holding the stick in your right hand and poking back with the end of the short stick from top to right armpit (Figure 35).

2. Keep moving up, hit the stick from top to back of the right shoulder in your right hand, reach the front of the short stick with force, exhale force, and keep your left hand protective (Figure 36).

Note: This formula is mainly used to deal with the enemy who invades later (Figure 37~38 is an example of a regressive counter-Police Stick attack).

14. Step up and split the stick

Step forward with your right foot while striking the stick from top to bottom with your right hand until the front of the short stick, exhaling forcefully, keeping your left hand protective and your eyes level ahead (Figure 39).

15. Closing style

1. Take a small step back with your right foot and recycle the stick from bottom to top in your right hand into a fighting style (Figure 40).

2. Stand with the right foot back and the left foot, while holding the right hand with the left hand to make the short stick straight to complete the salutation (Figure 41).

The attack site of the short stick:

1. The front attack sites of the human body include the head, neck, throat, collarbone, chest, ribs, abdomen, syllabus, knees, ankles and dorsal feet.

2. The posterior attack sites of the human body include the back brain, cervical vertebrae, kidneys, tail vertebrae and heels.

The secret of armament (short stick) is “simultaneous close taking”, which means that wherever the opponent is close to you, you will hit, including the opponent’s weapons and limb weapons.

(1) First launch close take (also known as grabbing close take): Our side first takes the initiative to attack, using a short stick to suddenly hit the enemy’s elbow, carpal, knee, ankle bone, and other fragile parts, and then loop back to attack the enemy’s key parts.

(2) Late approach: The enemy attacks first, and our side uses a short stick to first hit the arm of the enemy’s forward hand, including the elbow and knee joint, and then returns to attack the enemy’s key parts.

The “simultaneous approach” of armed combat is mainly to solve the enemy’s weapons, and then take advantage of the situation to attack, with the purpose of wounding and maiming the enemy.

Short stick skill training:

(1) The right hand holds the end of the stick, the other end of the short stick hangs a heavy object, the weight is determined by their own skill, when practicing high horse steps stand, the right hand with wrist force to rotate the short stick to draw a circle, a circle, an oblique circle, at the beginning of the elbow slightly bent, deep power after straight arm forward, elbow straight, weight and arm in a straight line, still round, but to stroke bigger and bigger, training for 10 minutes a day, left and right hands to practice.

(2) Find a bucket, the barrel is filled with fine sand, pour a little water into the barrel, and then stand in front of the barrel with high horse steps, cross the waist with the left hand, hold the stick in the right hand and shake it vigorously, so that the short stick is round in the sand and mud, at first the resistance is very large, and it is very difficult to shake the sand and mud if the skill is not enough, but as long as you keep practicing, you can easily shake the sand and mud within a month.
