Jeet Kune Do refers to the use of every part of the hand to attack, emphasizing the unpredictability of rhythm, route, angle, and simple, direct, fast, accurate, powerful and covert strikes. Different techniques vary in tactical use according to different technical characteristics.
Faster attack speed of the finger, hanging pound, punch, mainly play the role of leading attack, counterattack, interception or interference with the opponent. The techniques such as shoveling, medium straight punching, and variable angle straight rushing with tricky attack angles mainly play the effect of changing the situation to control the enemy; Techniques such as hook punches with greater strike power and bent arms upwards take on the task of decisive blows at close range. Overall, Jeet Kune Do techniques offer both speed and power, and can strike at any angle and route, ensuring that Jeet Kune Do practitioners can freely apply them in a variety of situations in martial arts.
According to the attack route, it can be roughly divided into: straight forward technology (punching, index); Bottom-up technique (bent arm upward punch); top-down technique (hanging pounding); Outside-in technique (hook punch, hook palm); Inside-out techniques (hanging pounding), etc.
Punching is a signature punch method that integrates speed and power in Jeet Kune Do, with unpredictable strike angles and attack rhythms, and is the backbone punch method with the highest frequency and efficiency in Jeet Kune Do. Often as an attack-led, in cooperation with other technologies, to implement rapid volley, grab attack, counterattack. The main areas of attack are the head, abdomen and ribs.
【Method of action】
Stand on the right swing pile. The left foot is pronated on the ground, the center of gravity is shifted slightly forward, and while urging the upper body to turn counterclockwise, lead with your fist, push your elbow, and strike the fist directly in front of the nose. While reaching the target, the fist is raised up, and the lower three knuckles and the fist peak are emphasized. The fist and elbow of the strike arm are in a straight line, forming a stable support structure for the action and reaction force. (Figure 2-15(1)(2))
When punching, the angle of bending the knee joint of the front leg should remain unchanged to avoid the dispersion of force caused by the ups and downs of the body.
2-16 confrontation. I pushed forward, got close, and quickly punched the opponent in the face with a straight right charge. (Figure 2-16(1)(2))
2. Right median punch
[Method of action]
Stand on the right swing pile. The back foot is pronated inward, the front foot is moved forward by half a step, the legs are bent, the body is lowered, and the shoulder and the target are placed on the same plane as possible. At the same time as the body falls, buckle the shoulders and urge the elbows to punch out. At the moment of fist force, there is a slight internal rotation, and the knuckles and fist peak are not emphasized. (Figure 2-17(1)(2))
When throwing a punch with a low body, the upper body is slightly inward-leaning in order to increase the attack power while avoiding the straight attack of the opponent’s front punch.
Confrontation between enemies and us. I leaned over and punched the opponent in the abdomen in the right center position. (Figure 2-18(1)(2))
3. Left straight punch
[Method of action]
Stand on the right swing pile. The back foot is rotated outward and the center of gravity moves forward to the front foot. Turn the upper body clockwise, send the left shoulder forward to urge the elbow joint to strike the fist directly in front of the nose, when in place, the fist is slightly pronated, high and shoulder level, and the force reaches the three joints and the fist peak under the fist. The right fist rotates along the body to recover protection. The lower jaw is slightly tucked away and hidden in the left shoulder. (Figure 2-19(1)(2))
Make full use of the combined force of kicking the ground, twisting the waist, and sending the shoulder, and experience the feeling of suddenly closing the door. Once in place, all face the target with your left fist, left knee, and left foot.
Confrontation between enemies and us. I stepped up close and quickly hit the opponent in the face with a left impact. (Figure 2-20(1)(2))
4. Left median punch
[Method of action]
Stand on the right swing pile. Take a small step with your right foot diagonally to the right, bend your legs, and lower your body so that the target is shoulder level; At the same time, the back foot is rotated externally, the upper body is turned clockwise, the left shoulder is sent forward, and the elbow is punched. When the fist is in place, it is slightly pronated, high at shoulder level. The right fist changes palms with the body and returns to the left cheek for protection. (Figure
The purpose of the side step is to maintain the balance of the body when leaning over and punching, and you can take half a step. If it is too large, it cannot completely convert the reaction force of the left leg into the fist.
Confrontation between enemies and us. When the opponent strikes me in the head with a left fist, I dodge the punch sideways; At the same time, hit the opponent’s abdomen with a left-center impact. (Figure 2-22(1)(2))
