Breathing Training of Shaolin Hard Qigong

Holding bricks to practice qi is an effective method of practicing hard qigong, which is characterized by simple and easy to learn, regardless of the season, regardless of the size of the site, as long as there are one to two pieces2. 5 kg bricks, choose a quiet place, concentrate your thoughts, concentrate and breathe, you can practice. This method is very suitable for the majority of teenagers to practice.

(1) Horse step bricks

Preparation: Feet open, shoulder-width apart, knees bent and squatted into a horse stud, arms down. The eye is level ahead (Figure 65).

Inhale: Rotate the left arm inward, bend the elbow to support the palm, raise the abdomen, palm up, 4 inches away from the dantian point, and place 1~2 bricks on the left palm (Figure 66). Idea: Lead the qi with intention, lead the dantian qi to rise, and be good at gathering qi in the acupoint.

Exhale: Cross your waist with your right hand and move your left palm down. Idea: Sinking the dantian point in the acupuncture point of the cell, passing through the perineum, the tail point, the meimen point, the large vertebral point, and then divided into the two shoulder well points, and then through the Quchi point, the outer labor palace point, and the inner labor palace point, the qi reaches the brick surface, suggesting that the qi emitted from the palm can rush the brick up, and the exhalation and inhalation are repeated. When you are tired, turn your palm, palm down, and continue to practice with the back of your palm to support the brick; When the left palm is tired, the right palm is practiced, and the practice time should be tolerable (Figure 67).

(2) Chest rotation

Preparation: Body upright, feet shoulder-width apart, hands holding bricks in front of the abdomen, 4 inches from the dantian cave, mouth facing each other, palms facing inward (Fig. 68).

Inhale: Turn the upper body slightly to the left and hold the brick in both hands. Rotate from the abdomen to the left and up to the mid-brain points of the chest. Thought: Cause Dantian Qi to rise to the acupoint in the brain to gather Qi (Figure 69).

Exhale: Hold the brick in both hands and continue to rotate from the middle point to the right of the chest, the bottom of the chest to the dantian point of the abdomen. Idea: Sink the dantian through the perineum, tail lu, meimen and large vertebral points, and then divide into two shoulder well points, pass through Quchi point and Laogong point, qi to the palm of the hand, force up to the brick surface, and practice repeatedly with one breath and one breath (Figure 70).

(3) Single-arm brick picking

Preparation: Stand with your feet together, body upright, hold the brick in your right hand, your arms droop, the brick is placed on the outside of your right thigh, and your left arm naturally droops. Binocular level ahead (Figure 71).

Inhale: Lift the anus and step forward with your left foot, forming a left lunge. The left hand crosses the waist, the right hand holds the brick, the arm is slightly bent, and the arc is from the bottom to the top of the head. Idea: Draw the dantian qi to rise and gather qi in the middle of the body, and stop holding the qi for a while (Figure 72).

Exhale: Bend your right arm slightly, smash it forward and backward, face forward, punch off the ground, and brake immediately. Thought: Lead the qi with intention, sink the dantian, pass through the perineum and tail lu points along the ridge to the large vertebral point, and then pass through the right upper limb to the palm of the hand, and the force reaches the brick surface (Figure 73).

(4) Kneeling and smashing

Preparation: Lunge with the left leg in front, kneel on the ground with the right leg behind the back, punch the right knee from the left heel, press the left hand on the left knee, and hold the brick with the right hand and droop (Figure 74).

Inhale: Hold the brick in your right hand from bottom to top of your head, your big arm is close to the side of your head, your mouth is backward, and your palm is to the left. Thought: Lead the qi with the intention, lead the dantian qi to rise to the Xuanzhong acupoint and gather qi, and pause for a moment (Figure 75).

Exhale: The upper body leans forward, the right arm bends the elbow and slams forward and down, the palm is inward, and the brick is immediately braked with a punch from the ground, and the force reaches the brick surface. Thought: Lead the qi with intention, lead the middle qi to sink the dantian point, pass through the perineum and tail lu point along the ridge to the large vertebral point, along the upper limb to the palm of the hand, suggesting that the palm of the hand emits qi to flush the brick away (Figure 76).
