The low-leg attack method is a method that indicates that the leg attacks the enemy’s knee below.
In fierce combat combat, especially in indoor self-defense with limited space, it is difficult to perform the large-scale high-leg technique, and at the same time, the center of gravity is often unstable, and it is easy to be cracked by the enemy using techniques such as lifting and holding. The low-position leg method has the characteristics of small amplitude of action, stable center of gravity, strong concealment, and fast attack action. Attacking the enemy’s lower set with a low leg can also distract the enemy, divert the line of sight, and create opportunities for other leg or punch attacks.
Several low-legged attack techniques have been sorted out and shared with everyone.
1. Ding leg (also known as door opening leg, small iron leg)
1. Take the initiative to attack
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party A suddenly attacks the shin of Party B’s front leg (left) calf (Fig. 2); Or cover with fists in the upper disc and attack with Ding legs in the lower set.
2. Anti-fist attack
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B attacks Party A’s upper plate with its right fist, and Party A immediately blocks with its left hand, while kicking the left leg of Party B with its right Ding leg and the shin of the left leg of Party B (Figure 3).
3. Attack with your legs
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B kicks Party A’s middle disc with the right whip leg side, and Party A immediately hooks Party B’s right calf outward with a left hook, and quickly attacks the shin of Party B’s left leg with the right Ding leg (Figure 4).
2. Hook leg (also known as hook kick or circle leg)
1. Take the initiative to hook and kick
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); When Party B’s center of gravity moves forward to the front leg (left leg), Party A kicks Party B down with its right leg by forcefully hooking Party B’s left ankle (Figure 5).
2. Kick with your legs
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B attacks Party A’s lower abdomen with a left leg or bullet leg, and Party A immediately slides to the right front to dodge, while hooking Party B’s left calf outward with the left hook hand (Figure 6), and kicking the ankle joint of Party B’s support leg (right leg) with the right hook leg to kick it down (Figure 7).
3. The hooked leg is falling
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); When Party B’s center of gravity moves forward to the front leg (left leg), Party A quickly kicks the ankle of Party B’s front leg (left leg) with a right hook leg, while pulling its front arm (left arm) down with his right hand to knock Party B down (Figure 8).
Third, stepping on the leg (also known as the door leg)
1. Step directly down
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B attacks Party A’s head with its left fist, and Party A takes advantage of the enemy’s attention on the upper plate and directly uses its right leg to quickly step on the tibia of its front leg (left leg) (Figure 9).
2. Attack after defending legs
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B attacks Party A’s lower plate with a low leg, and Party A seals Party B’s attack with a stepping leg (Figure 10); Party A’s foot does not land on the ground, and it quickly changes to a whip leg side kick or a leg kick to attack Party B’s upper plate (Figure 11).
3. Attack after fisting
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B attacks Party A’s head with a straight fist, and Party A immediately blocks the defense with its right hand inward, while striking the shin of its left leg with its right leg (Figure 12).
4. Sweep your legs
1. Sweep the legs after the fist
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B steps up to the right and attacks Party A’s upper plate with a right lunge and a straight fist, and Party A quickly squats down and sweeps Party B’s right leg with the front or back sweep leg of the right leg, kicking it down (Figure 13).
2. Sweep the legs after preventing legs
Both sides face off in a left-hand fighting style (Figure 1); Party B attacks Party A’s upper plate with a high right kick or whip leg, and Party A quickly squats down and sweeps Party B’s support leg (left leg) with the front or back sweep leg of the right leg to sweep it down (Figure 14).

In fact, in traditional martial arts, there are many low-leg offensive techniques, such as: bouncing legs, crushing legs, hoof legs, hanging legs, etc. As long as ordinary people practice regularly, their use in self-defense often has unexpected results.
